Between Hermeneutics and the Algorithm: The Humanistic Tradition and Generative AI in Polish Studies Education

Monika Szabłowska-Zaremba

Abstract

The article examines how generative AI and recommender systems reshape reading and interpretation in Polish studies education. Drawing on information ethics (Luciano Floridi) and digital humanities, it maps three mechanisms: recommendation logics shaping the visibility of readings, generative plagiarism and blurred accountability for authorship, and cultural-linguistic bias that flattens local codes and value hierarchies. It argues that AI functions as a cognitive environment shifting agency toward selection and pattern-based production, which calls for explicit infoethical frameworks in educational practice.
