Abstract

The monograph Technopaideia: Advanced Technologies in Humanistic Education, edited by Sebastian Borowicz and Joanna Hobot-Marcinek, published by the Jagiellonian University Press in 2024, addresses important issues related to the role of technology in humanistic education. The publication is not limited to describing modern educational tools, but also accentuates the need to change the approach to teaching and learning. It emphasizes that the implementation of technology should support both the development of digital skills and the cultivation of humanities values, such as reflexivity, creativity, and ethical responsibility. The monograph also discusses issues related to ethics and the challenges posed by the technologization of education, including the autonomy of teachers and students, privacy protection, and the impact of digitization on interpersonal relationships. The authors emphasize that technologies are not a neutral tool – their impact on educational processes depends on the broad social and cultural context.
