Registration and login are required to submit items online and to check the status of current submissions.
Author Guidelines
General information:
- The editorial office accepts theoretical studies, research papers, review papers, reviews, and reports from conferences and scholarly meetings on topics consistent with the journal’s profile.
- Theoretical, empirical, and review studies should be accompanied by an abstract in Polish and English and by keywords.
- In the case of a review, the author is also required to submit a scanned cover of the reviewed book.
- All submitted works are reviewed by at least two independent reviewers.
- The journal does not charge any fees for publishing a text. This means that the author bears no costs at any stage of the publishing process, from manuscript submission to publication.
- Authors do not receive remuneration for published texts.
- When submitting a text, the author must attach the Author’s Statement. Scans of signed statements by the Author/Authors (PDF or JPG) should be attached as supplementary files in the submission.
- The editorial office reserves the right to make changes and may also return the work to the author with a proposal for revision (shortening, rewording).
Article Layout
- The name and surname of the author of the text should be placed in the upper left corner, according to the following model:

Abstract and Keywords
The abstract in Polish and its English-language version should be prepared in accordance with the following principles:
- For an original article presenting the results of quantitative research, the abstract should be structured. It should include the following bold subheadings: Introduction, Research Aim, Method, Results, Conclusions. In the English version, the following headings should be used respectively: Introduction, Research Aim, Method, Results, Conclusions.
- The abstract of an original article based on qualitative research should also be prepared in a structured form. It should contain the bold headings: Introduction, Research Aim, Method, Results, Conclusions, while in the English version: Introduction, Research Aim, Method, Results, Conclusions.
- For a review article, a structured abstract is required, comprising the following bold sections: Introduction, Research Aim, Evidence-based Facts, Summary. In the English-language abstract, the following headings should be used: Introduction, Research Aim, Evidence-based Facts, Summary.
- The length of the abstract should not exceed 250 words, including the headings used. Abbreviations are not recommended; if their use is necessary, they should be explained when they first appear in the text. Bibliographic references should not be included in the abstract.
- The abstract must not repeat a passage from the article.
- Keywords should be placed directly below the abstract and separated by semicolons. Their number should range from four to six.
- After the keywords, information should be provided on the use of artificial intelligence tools in the preparation of the submitted text, if such tools were used. This information should indicate the specific parts of the work prepared with the use of these tools.
- Font: Times New Roman 10 pt, line spacing 1.0, justified.
Main Text
- The maximum length of the article should not exceed 35,000 characters including spaces, excluding the reference list. The text should be prepared in standard A4 format.
- Page settings: Margins: top - 2.5 cm, bottom - 2.5 cm, left - 2.5 cm, right - 2.5 cm
- Paragraph settings: Line spacing: 1.5; Text alignment: justified
- Text settings:
- Text font: Times New Roman, 12 pt, justified text
- Subheadings: Times New Roman, 12 pt, uppercase, centred, without numbering
- Bold type should not be used in the text (in justified cases, data in a table may be bolded); italics may be used for emphasis.
Structure of the Main Text
- An original article presenting the results of quantitative research should be prepared according to a clear structure comprising the following sections: Introduction, Research Problem and Aim, Research Method and Sample Characteristics, Data Analysis Procedure, Results, Discussion of Results, Conclusions, Limitations of the Study, and References.
- In the case of an original article based on qualitative research, it is recommended to use a structure adapted to the specificity of this type of research procedure. The text should contain, in order: Introduction, Research Problem and Aim, Research Method and Group Characteristics, Data Analysis Method, Results, Discussion of Results, Conclusions, Limitations of the Study, and References.
- A review article should be prepared in accordance with the structure appropriate for studies synthesising the current state of research. Its structure should include the following sections: Introduction, Research Problem and Aim, Review Methodology, Evidence-based Facts, Summary, Conclusions, and References.
- In the section entitled Research Method and Sample Characteristics, information should be provided on the source of funding for the research project presented, if the study was financed from external or institutional funds. The same section should also indicate whether approval from the relevant ethics body was obtained for the conduct of the research, if such approval was required or granted.
Figures, Charts, Diagrams
- All figures, charts, diagrams, etc. must be prepared in shades of grey. The publisher reserves the right to convert colour graphics to greyscale, which may result in a deterioration of their quality.
- The figure number and caption should be placed below the figure, together with the source indication (Times New Roman, 10 pt, left aligned).
- If the author of the photograph, diagram, or chart is the author of the article, the following information should be placed under the caption: Source: author’s own work.
- Example:

Tables
- Tables must fit within the margins. Table font: Times New Roman, 10 pt, left aligned.
- Table style: simple (grid)
- Tables should be numbered. The table number and title should be placed above the table (Times New Roman, 10 pt, left aligned).
- Example:
- Table 1. Relationships between the sense of self-efficacy of the surveyed pedagogues and the stress they experience - The source should be indicated below the table. If the author of the table is the author of the article, the following information should be placed below the table: Source: author’s own work.
References to Literature in the Text
- Quoted passages should be enclosed in quotation marks.
- Only the following footnote standards apply:
- Only author’s notes are numbered and placed at the bottom of the page.
- Bibliographic references are placed directly in the text and contain the author’s surname and the year of publication (Nowak, 2000), and, in the case of a direct quotation, additionally the page number, e.g. (Nowacki, 2000, p. 5).
- When citing two books by the same author published in the same year, the following notation should be used: (Nowacki, 2000a; Nowacki, 2000b), in accordance with the order of the cited literature.
- If the cited work has two authors, both surnames should be given in each reference (Nowak, Kowalski, 2005). In the case of more authors, the surnames of all authors should be given the first time (Nowak, Kowalski, Igrekowski, 2007), while in subsequent references the first surname and “et al.” should be used, e.g. (Nowak et al., 2007).
References
- The reference list should be prepared in accordance with the rules of APA 7 style.
- The entries in the reference list should be arranged alphabetically and placed below the article text.
- The list should be unnumbered, in Times New Roman, 12 pt.
- If a publication has a DOI number, please provide it immediately after the bibliographic entry in the format https://doi.org/xxxxx or https://xxxx.
- In the case of references to online sources, the surname and initial of the author’s first name, the year of publication (if known), the title, the exact web address of the document, and the date of access should be provided.

Submission Preparation Checklist
As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
- The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
- The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, RTF, or WordPerfect document file format.
- Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
- The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
- The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines, which is found in About the Journal. Additionally, you have ready to attach with your article signed percentage of author`s work declaration.

In addition to the article, I enclose the Statement (Polish version or English version for Authors with foreign affiliation) which includes the information on the Author/Authors (academic degree/title, affiliation, contact details) along with clause confirming the originality of the text and confirmation of transferring the author's economic rights to the article to the Publisher. I commit to post a signed paper version of the statement to the Editorial Board (to the address: Instytut Pedagogiki UMCS, Redakcja Annales J, ul. Narutowicza 12, 20-004 Lublin, dr hab. Joanna Wierzejska) or its scan to the email address of the Editorial Board (annalesj@wp.pl) within 14 days from submission of the text.
