Bequeathing the Journey: "Kyoto song" by Colette Fellous
Abstract
Colette Fellous travels to Kyoto with her ten-year-old granddaughter, Lisa, who lends her grandmother her innocent gaze. This real Japan coexists with another 'mental' country, whose coordinates are provided according to the protagonist's feelings and emotions. Our analysis aims to detect the different narrative instances that converge in Fellous' text: the approach to the Other is accompanied by a self-portrait and the reflection on the discovered landscape goes hand in hand with a visit to the author's inner space. As a whole, the narrative constitutes a fragmentary discourse that only makes sense in multiple and, at the same time, global perspectives.
