ENERGY SUPPLIES DEPENDENCE OF EU AS A THREAT TO ITS ENERGY SECURITY
Abstract
Energy security are issues that are of interest in view of interdisciplinary science of raw material economy. Presentation of one satisfactory defi nition of this phenomenon is therefore very diffi cult. Dependence of the EU on energy supplies from third countries and promoted by the Community the idea of “decarbonisation” of economies poses a threat to the correct development of the Union. The EU countries have increasingly become dependent on energy supplies from directions often politically unstable. This creates a risk of interference to the proper functioning of the Member Countries and the whole Community. This might include increased production costs, diffi culties in functioning of the energy-intensive sectors, capital fl ight, rising unemployment, etc.
