The Smolyan Anthroponymic System as Part of the Onomastics of the Bulgarian Rhodopes: General Characteristics

Abstract


An analysis of the historical development of the anthroponymic system of the Smolyan region in the 20th century. The examined data allow to differentiate three periods in the development of personal names in the region: from 1913 to 1950, from 1950 to 1990, and from 1990 until the present day.
