Focus and Scope

Prima Educatione is a peer-reviewed journal, publishing original scientific and reflective articles on research related to children, childhood and early childhood education. Our intention is to combine considerations on early education with other subdisciplines of pedagogy and other areas of knowledge - psychology, philosophy, sociology, cultural anthropology, medicine and law. We invite the Authors to publish original manuscripts in Polish or English in the form of theoretical studies, research and reports from educational practice. The editorial board also accepts opinions, book reviews and reports on important scientific events.

Peer Review Process

The principle of double-blind review process applies to the Prima Educatione year journal. The editorial office accepts for publication the articles provided by the authors, original works that do not infringe the rights of third parties. Manuscripts submitted to Prima Educatione cannot be subject to any other publishing procedures at the same time. The authors sign a declaration on these issues. Moreover, in order to counteract the practices of ghostwriting and guest authorship, the statement includes a declaration regarding compliance with the rules of ethics and the percentage contribution of each of the authors in the preparation of the manuscript (with affiliation and contribution, i.e. information who is the author of the concept, assumptions, methods, etc.).

Each of the submitted articles is formally assessed by the editorial team, which, when deciding whether to accept or reject the manuscript, takes into account the convergence of the issues with the general profile of the journal and the subject matter specified in a given issue, as well as compliance with the basic standards of the scientific paper. The manuscript is then subjected to anonymous review by two independent reviewers.

Reviewers are not members of the editorial office and are not employed by the institution issuing the journal. The submitted manuscripts will not be sent to reviewers from the same institution with which the author is affiliated and to persons who may have a conflict of interest with the author. Reviewers are not in service dependency with the author; they are specialists in a given field and have at least a doctoral degree and relevant scientific achievements. The manuscripts are reviewed confidentially and anonymously. Reviewers take into account the substantive content of the manuscript, the novelty of the subject, the carrying capacity of the content and conclusions for the theory and practice of pedagogy, and in the case of research reports - the methodological quality of the project. For quantitative research, statistical analyzes are assessed by the statistical editor. The written review contains the justification for the assessment and suggestions for improvement, as well as an unambiguous conclusion by the reviewer regarding the conditions for admitting a manuscript to publication or for its rejection. The author is informed about the result of the reviewing procedure and has the possibility to correspond with the editorial office regarding any comments from reviewers. The final decision about publishing will be made by the Editorial Board of Prima Educatione.

Publication Frequency

The journal is issued yearly. Articles are collected from January to April. After the successful completion of the review process, the articles are published online with a DOI number by the end of a given calendar year.

Open Access Policy

Prima Educatione is an open access journal which means that all content is freely available without charge to the user or his/her institution. Users are allowed to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or link to the full texts of the articles, or use them for any other lawful purpose, without asking prior permission from the publisher or the author. Principles of ethics in the Prima Educatione

Based on COPE (Committee on Publication  Ethics)[1] resources:

Ethical regulations for the authors

1. The submitted materials must be original and should not be published anywhere before.
a. Autoplagiarism (duplicate publication) - the authors sign an appropriate statement in which they inform about the originality of the submitted text.

b. Methodological dishonesty and data fabrication - in the research papers the author should describe in detail the steps they followed, the sample selection, the tools used in the research, the methods of data analysis.

2. The authors of the paper inform about the contribution to its writing in the statement of the originality of the text. The author of the article is the person who contributed to its development.
a. The phenomena of ghost writing - it is unacceptable to omit the authors who contributed to the writing of the article on the list of the authors.

b. The guest/gift authorship practice - the list of authors should not include people who did not participate in its elaboration.

c. Plagiarism - the use of the publication of all or part of the publication of another author without marking it in accordance with the principles of referring to other resources included in the APA[2] publishing standards for social sciences may result in the withdrawal of the article and launching the next steps suggested by COPE[3], namely, informing author's superiors or a person responsible for supervising research in the author's institution.

d. Conflict of interests - the author of the article should report all its manifestations by completing the appropriate statement.

Ethical regulations for the reviewers

2. The reviewers are representatives of two scientific centers, not related to the center represented by the author.

3. Reviews are passed to the author in the form of anonymous comments and suggestions for paper improvement.

Ethical regulations for the editors

1. The Editorial Board makes a preliminary substantive evaluation of the article in terms of its reliability, compliance with the journal's profile and scientific suitability.

2. Editors impartially make the decision to refer the article to the external review and accept it for publication or rejection, as suggested by the reviewers.
